About Us
What is Girls Ministries?
Girls Ministries is a church-based discipleship program that has a legacy of godly women coming alongside girls, guiding them on a path to become mature and godly women. Our goal is simple: To see every girl moving toward a deep relationship with Jesus Christ, and to realize her importance and potential in the kingdom of God.
Meet Our Team
Rocio Carballo
Girls Ministries Director
Rocio is a proud wife and mother and is our new Girls Ministries Director.
Originally from Tyler, TX, she grew up as a proud Missionette at Primera Asambleas De Dios before moving to San Antonio to study at Latin American Bible Institute, where she had the honor of being the Student Body President. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Church Ministries at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. She is currently a student at Houston Baptist University, where she is pursuing her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Professionally, Rocio has dedicated her time as a social worker, working day to day at a local High School as a Student Support Specialist for Communities in Schools.
She and her husband George are the pastors of VIVE Houston, an inner-city church plant in Houston, TX, that they founded in 2019, where she also serves as the Kids Pastor. Rocio and her husband have recently transitioned from their time serving as District Youth Directors of the Texas Louisiana Hispanic District. Rocio also ministers in her community as a corporate chaplain For Marketplace Chaplains. In addition, Rocio has served in ministry as a youth leader, Bible school teacher, and Speed the Light Director for TLYM.
Presently, Rocio is a mother of a precious boy, Georgie. She is also a proud dog mom to Osito.
Ashley Gomez
Assistant Director
Ashley Gomez is a military wife and mother of two girls. Both of her daughters are active in their local Girls Ministries clubs at Templo Cristo Para Todos in Alvin, Texas where Ashley is a Friends Club sponsor working with junior high aged girls.
Girls Ministries is very special to Ashley as she is a product of this program, formerly Missionettes. Ashley has been a club sponsor for Daisies Club and Friends Club for 5 years, but has been certified to teach GM clubs for close to 20 years. In addition to serving as a club sponsor at CPT, Ashley assists in many ministries including Fine Arts Festival coaching and the social media ministry. She is also going to begin teaching adult ESL classes at her church in partnership with Alvin ISD. As a preacher’s kid, Ashley is using to serving where there is a need, so she is always ready to jump in wherever she is needed.
Ashley currently works in the public school system as an Instructional Specialist for the Alvin ISD English Learner and Cultural Service Department. She creates and designs engaging professional development to support teachers and administrators inside and outside the classroom. She is a teacher coach and mentor, and she is passionate about quality education for all students. In addition, she also serves as a mentor to two students in her district mentorship program, YET.
Ashley earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2007. She began her studies in 2002 at Southwestern Assemblies of God University where she completed her Biblical Studies for credentialing, but transferred to UHCL her junior year to be home for her mother’s cancer treatment. Ashley earned her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2012 from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. She is a Licensed minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God, and she is a police chaplain for the Alvin Police Department. Ashley loves to serve God and serve people. She is excited to share her love for Girls Ministries and student ministries with you all.
Fun fact: Ashley is a 3rd generation AG Woman Minister. Her grandmother and mother are also credentialed ministers with the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Alejandra Diaz
Secretary Treasurer
She is a New Jersey-born and Louisiana-raised girl who loves girls ministries, as she is also a product of this program. She was in it from Stars Club to Girls Only.
